This smoothie is all about blueberries, but it has accents of lemon, always a great match to the sweetness of blueberries, and lavender, a more unusual choice for a smoothie, but the 3 flavors are delicious, refreshing, and relaxing all together. Blueberry Lemon Lavender smoothie also contains 2 of my favorite smoothie ingredients: chia seeds for fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids, and to help "thicken" it like a milkshake, plus Vanilla protein powder to make it a meal replacement. I love Sun Warrior, Warrior Blend Vanilla the best, as it has a few different plant-based protein sources, and is ever so lightly sweetened with Stevia, which helps bring out all the flavors of the fruits in this smoothie.
Lavender can be overpowering in a food, and people usually either love or hate it. Traditionally used more as an aromatherapy scent, lavender has known properties which help to soothe and relax. It can be a nice addition to an evening routine to help ease the body and mind into bedtime. The amount used here is subtle to keep the focus on the blueberries, and can be enjoyed any time of day, however if you're extremely sensitive, maybe reserve this for the evening. And, if you're not a lavender lover, feel free to omit and you'll still have a lovely blueberry-lemon protein smoothie.
